The Crocus Foundation Gala - Olivia C

By means of the KCRG Show You Care program, Dave Wright Nissan Subaru takes a meaningful part in supporting local events through financial means and the promotion of local events in the surrounding community. The Crocus Foundation is a relatively new organization making a meaningful impact in the community already, they help cancer survivors through wellness, rehabilitation, and recovery programs designed to improve quality of life beyond medical treatment alone. Since launching in 2023, the organization has already helped more than 120 cancer survivors participate in wellness and rehabilitation programs throughout the region. The nonprofit ensures individuals have access to services that promote physical and emotional recovery regardless of their financial situation. They offer access to personal fitness coaching, nutrition support, yoga, massage therapy, chiropractic care, sound healing, and other holistic services aimed at helping survivors regain strength and confidence. In addition to directly helping survivors and families, the foundation continues to strengthen the broader community by encouraging philanthropy, wellness education, and local collaboration. By collaborating with the Show You Care program developed by local businesses, including Dave Wright Nissan Subaru, new organizations like The Crocus Foundation can invite the community to attend its 3rd Annual Gala and bring together supporters and survivors to enjoy ho d'oeuvres, signature drinks, both live and silent auctions, and share in their mission of building a brighter future for local cancer survivors and their families. Our dealership offers financial support, promotion of the event, and encourages our own staff and the broader region to get involved by taking part in the event and showing their support to local cancer survivors.

Cruisin' for Camp Courageous - Olivia C

For more than 50 years, Camp Courageous has provided recreational, respite, and travel opportunities for individuals of all ages with disabilities across Iowa. The local nonprofit serves thousands of campers each year and relies heavily on community support through fundraising events and donations. Last month, Camp Courageous hosted its annual "Cruisin' for Camp Courageous" event, one of Iowa's largest charity car shows. Presented by the Cedar Valley Street Rods, the family-friendly event brought in nearly 400 classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and specialty vehicles. Guests could participate in live and silent auctions, and enjoy food, music, train rides, games, craft vendors, and camp activities. The event featured pinstriping demonstrations and opportunities to experience attractions around the camp grounds as well. We are proud to support events like this one!

Media Share The Love

Share The Love - Sydney P

The Boys & Girls Club of the Corridor provides year-round youth development programs to school-age children in Marion, Cedar Rapids & Iowa City. Of all the kids in the club, 96% are below the poverty line. The club costs $12 a year for kids to attend, and most kids don't even have to pay thanks to sponsorships and partnerships. Dave Wright Subaru has partnered with the club through Share The Love for 11 years and has donated over $200,000 in that time. The club provides year-round homework help and learning activities, along with some engaging summer programs. Their Workforce Readiness program gives members essential skills and resources for post-school success. Local companies offer tours and job insights to emphasize the importance of graduating. The club also empowers the students to learn responsibility and are taught to lead with integrity and confidence. The students are able to foster creativity and self-expression through arts and crafts. The club provides health & wellness initiatives that support students' mental well-being, including Chef's Club activities where kids learn to cook. The club also provides sports and recreational activities that provides students with a place where they can be a kid, allowing them to stay active and have fun. We're proud to partner with organizations like this one!

NEIFB - Empty Bowls Event - Olivia C

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank provides meals while helping build a stronger, more compassionate community across northeast Iowa. Serving 16 counties, the organization works every day to ensure that individuals and families have access to nutritious food with dignity. More than 45,000 people in the region face food insecurity, a number that continues to rise. Through a network of over 120 partner agencies, dedicated volunteers, and multiple programs, the Food Bank distributed more than 8.6 million meals last year alone, consistently showing up for neighbors in moments of need. Their programs include school-based food accessibility and mobile pantries, helping children get meals over the weekend and making sure seniors keep food on the table. One of the most meaningful ways the community comes together to support this mission is through the annual Empty Bowls event. This event is more than just a fundraiser, it's an experience designed to raise awareness about hunger while bringing people together. This year's theme is Bloom with Purpose: Growing Young Leaders, Fighting Food Insecurity. Guests hear from young people who will help carry on their mission for years to come and inspire the next generation of community support. Attendees gather for an evening of food, connection, and giving, with opportunities to participate in auctions and learn more about the Food Bank's work. Solving hunger takes a community. Whether it's donating, volunteering, or simply showing up, every effort helps. We're proud to support this event and others like it!

Paws & More - Denim & Diamonds Gala - Olivia C

The PAWS & More Animal Shelter provides care, shelter, and second chances for animals in need. Through adoption services, volunteer opportunities, and community-driven programs, the organization works to connect pets with loving homes while promoting responsible pet ownership. Beyond daily shelter operations, PAWS & More plays a meaningful role in bringing the community together around a shared mission of supporting animals and the people who care about them. One of their most anticipated events each year is the Denim & Diamonds Gala. This annual fundraiser offers a fun, relaxed-yet-elegant evening where guests can dress up or keep it casual while supporting a great cause. The event features a full dinner, live music, a live auction, and inspiring success stories highlighting animals whose lives have been changed through the shelter's work. Guests can enjoy a social hour with drinks and entertainment before sitting down for a meal, all while contributing to ongoing shelter efforts and future improvements. The gala not only raises funds, but also celebrates the impact PAWS & More has on local animals and families. We are proud to support events like this one!

Iowa Humane Alliance - Hot Soup Cold Noses - Olivia C

The Iowa Humane Alliance gives the community a warm way to support animals in need with their annual Hot Soup, Cold Noses event. It brings people together over a comforting bowl of soup while raising funds for programs that help pets and the people who care for them. The Iowa Humane Alliance is a nonprofit focused on reducing pet overpopulation and improving the lives of companion animals throughout the region. Their work centers around preventing unwanted litters through affordable, high-quality spay and neuter services. By helping pet owners access these services, the organization works to reduce the number of animals entering already crowded shelters. Their clinic provides low-cost procedures for owned pets, rescue animals, and community cats, making these important services accessible to more families and animal welfare groups across Eastern Iowa. They also partner with local shelters, rescue groups, and volunteers to support adoption efforts and manage community cat populations. These partnerships help reduce the number of homeless animals while improving outcomes for pets already in the system. Events like Hot Soup, Cold Noses help make all of this work possible. The fundraiser invites community members to enjoy a warm meal while supporting the organization's mission. Proceeds help fund their efforts, and each ticket helps the Iowa Humane Alliance continue its work to create a future where fewer animals face homelessness and more pets have the chance to live healthy, cared-for lives. We're proud to support this event and others like it!

Shelter House Book Sale - Olivia C

The Shelter House of Iowa City has been serving people experiencing homelessness in the community since 1983. Its mission is to provide safe shelter, stable housing, and supportive services that help individuals and families move toward long-term independence. They offer emergency shelter, housing programs, and case management to those in need. One of the organization's biggest community fundraisers each year is the Shelter House Book Sale. The event brings together readers, volunteers, and supporters for a weekend dedicated to great books and a great cause. The sale features thousands of gently used books, puzzles, games, and other media donated by community members. Shoppers can browse a wide variety of genres, including fiction, nonfiction, children's books, and more, all at affordable prices. The event is powered by volunteers who help collect, sort, and organize the donated materials ahead of the sale. Proceeds from the event go directly toward supporting Shelter House programs, helping provide shelter, housing assistance, and support services for people in the Iowa City area who need it most. We're proud to support events like this one!

Camp Tanager - Grill and Groove for Good - Olivia C

Grill & Groove for Good is a laid-back community event that brings people together for good food, live music, and a shared purpose of supporting kids and families in our area. The event takes place at Camp Tanager's Hills Lodge in Mount Vernon. For many in Eastern Iowa, Camp Tanager is more than just a summer camp. It's a place where kids can build confidence, form healthy friendships, and experience a safe, supportive environment away from everyday stress. For nearly 100 years, the camp has focused on helping youth grow socially and emotionally while simply getting to be kids. Grill & Groove for Good helps raise funds to support that mission. Camp Tanager operates as part of Tanager Place, a nonprofit dedicated to children's mental and behavioral health. Proceeds from the event help sustain prevention and enrichment programs that give young people access to mentorship, creative outlets, and safe spaces where they feel valued and supported. At its core, Grill & Groove for Good is about investing in local kids by helping youth develop resilience, independence, and a sense of belonging. The evening itself is simple and welcoming. Guests can enjoy a barbecue meal prepared by Chef Thyron Mathews, known for his appearance on Netflix's Barbecue Showdown, along with live music in a relaxed outdoor setting. Fundraisers like this make it possible for more children, including those who may not otherwise have the opportunity, to attend camp and benefit from the supportive programs offered there. We're proud to promote events like this one!

Project Holiday - CommUnity - Olivia C

Every holiday season, Project Holiday, led by CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank brings holiday meals to families who might otherwise struggle to put a traditional feast on the table. The heart of the initiative takes place at the CommUnity Food Bank at Pepperwood Plaza in Iowa City. In the week prior to the holidays, families could swing by and pick up everything they need for a festive dinner. Project Holiday also made delivery an option too, ensuring all families could enjoy holiday meals in the comfort of their homes. What makes Project Holiday really special is the way the community came together to make it happen. Over the years, this effort has grown, providing holiday meal ingredients to 1,500 local families and continuing a tradition of care that stretches back decades. Volunteers played a huge role as well, from helping sort and pack groceries to delivering meals, to greeting neighbors when they arrive. The Pepperwood Pantry's Project Holiday is really about more than food. It's about dignity, connection, and community. It helps ensure that families can celebrate meaningful moments with loved ones around the table, and that no one has to face the holidays hungry or alone. We are proud to support local outreach programs like this one!

Sound of Friendship - Compeer - Olivia C

The Compeer Program of Johnson County Iowa is all about something pretty simple but incredibly powerful: friendship. The local nonprofit matches trained community volunteers with adults who are receiving mental health treatment. These volunteers help reduce isolation and build real, lasting connections through everyday activities; like grabbing coffee, going for walks, or attending community events with them. One of the biggest ways to celebrate and support the Compeer mission each year is through their Sound of Friendship Concert and Dessert Reception. In 2025 the original date was cancelled, but the event returned later in the year, as the "Redux" concert, hosted by St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. Everyone in attendance enjoyed music, followed by a relaxed dessert reception where guests could mingle and connect. The concert brings together local performers, supporters, volunteers, and participants for a warm, welcoming night that highlights the impact of simple human connection while raising funds to keep Compeer's one-to-one friendship matches going strong. It's more than just a concert, it's a reminder that sometimes the best support we can offer someone is showing up, spending time, and being a friend. We are proud to support this event and others like it!

Habitat for Humanity - Recycle Gala - Olivia C

Through the KCRG-TV9 "Show You Care" program, Dave Wright Nissan Subaru has the pleasure of supporting local events with good causes. One of them, hosted for the Habitat for Humanity, was a unique fundraiser called the Recycle Gala. The highlight of the night is a runway show featuring outfits made entirely from recycled and repurposed materials. Local designers, businesses, and community members step up to create "trashion" looks that are imaginative, unexpected, and surprisingly stylish. It's a celebration of thinking outside the box, while also keeping materials out of landfills. The evening includes music, drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and a live auction. It's not your typical black-tie gala, it's creative, energetic, and all about bringing people together for something meaningful. Most importantly, the Recycle Gala supports the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Habitat works to bring people together to build homes and support the community. They partner with local families who need affordable housing, helping them achieve stability and independence through homeownership. With the help of volunteers, donors, and community partners, Habitat builds safe, decent homes and offers affordable mortgage options so families can invest in their futures. The funds raised at the Recycle Gala go directly toward building and repairing homes for hardworking families in our area. Every ticket purchased, every auction bid, and every sponsorship helps create opportunities for local families to have a safe place to call home. The Recycle Gala is a celebration of community creativity and generosity. It's a chance to support sustainability, enjoy a unique fashion show, and be part of something that has a lasting impact. We are proud to support this event and others like it!

Media Subaru Loves to Help

Subaru Loves to Help - Sydney W

The Boys & Girls Club of the Corridor provides a safe space, warm meals, and after school support for hundreds of children in our community. The Boys & Girls Club of the Corridor provides over 42,000 warm meals each year to children in need. Of those children, around 70% of them are at or below the poverty line. The Boys & Girls Club of the Corridor provides so much for these kids, but there is just no way they can do it all. They need help, support, and volunteers from the community to continue serving these children. Through the Subaru Loves to Help initiative, we were able to donate 200 pairs of shoes and 400 pairs of socks to children who attend the Boys & Girls Club. Many of these kids were previously wearing shoes multiple sizes too small, or in some cases, too big. Shoes that actually fit a child is so important and has a real impact on them. Shoes that cause pain or discomfort can create real distractions in school that may feel out of their control. It also leads them to participate less in physical activity for many reasons. Our partnership with Subaru Loves to Help benefits not only those children, but gives their families one less thing to worry about financially.

PAWS & More - PAWsgiving - Olivia C

Earlier this month, the PAWS & More Animal Shelter (also known as the Washington County Humane Society) hosted its 2025 PAWSgiving event at Dallmeyer Hall in the Washington County Fairgrounds. Guests enjoyed a hearty dinner, local live music, and a spirited auction. The event offered an intimate, community-centered atmosphere, while raising essential funds to equip the shelters new facility. Though construction of the building is already covered, proceeds from PAWSgiving will help furnish and equip the space for the next phase of its mission; to provide a safe, welcoming, and fully functional environment for animals in need, and the people who care for them. Beyond fundraising, the event shined a light on PAWS & Mores ongoing initiatives, including its foster and adoption programs, pet reunification services, spay and neuter advocacy, and community education efforts aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership. These programs are vital in reducing overpopulation, preventing neglect, and strengthening the bond between people and animals. Every dollar raised through PAWSgiving directly supports these goals; and helps to ensure the shelter can continue to provide lifesaving medical care and temporary housing for lost and abandoned pets, while also expanding their outreach programs that teach compassion and respect for animals. PAWSgiving served as a celebration of progress, gratitude, and shared purpose and demonstrated how a small community working together can make a lasting difference for animals who need it most. We are happy to support events like this one!

The GreenState Foundation's Financial Education Open - Olivia C

The GreenState Foundation is a charitable organization under GreenState Credit Union. Its mission is focused on financial education, affordable housing, and childrens health. The Foundation is tackling the root causes of economic instability and building stronger communities across Iowa and beyond. Earlier this month, they hosted their Financial Education Open! Attendees golfed, socialized, and enjoyed dinner while supporting the GreenState Foundation. All proceeds from this event benefitted the Foundations work to support our community in a variety of ways. Financial education is at the heart of their work. Their programs help individuals and families master budgeting, saving, and credit, while reshaping how people think and talk about money. The goal is to equip people with the tools they need for lifelong financial wellness. Housing is another major focus. GreenState has pledged $1 billion in mortgage lending over the next decade to help close the racial homeownership gap in the Midwest. The Foundation complements this commitment with direct support, awarding nearly $1 million in down payment assistance grants, already helping almost 240 families achieve homeownership. The Foundation also supports programs focused on childrens health, and addresses both their physical and mental well-being. By investing in schools and youth services, it ensures that children have a healthier start and a better chance at future success. In just a few years, the GreenState Foundation has helped families buy homes, funded essential school programs, supported childrens health initiatives, and invested millions into building a stronger future. Its combination of large-scale commitments, research-driven decisions, and deep community partnership set it apart, proving that when giving is intentional and strategic, it can change lives. We are proud to support this event and others like it!

The Five Seasons Stand Down - Olivia C

The Five Seasons Stand Down is an event hosted annually at the Veterans Memorial Stadium, which brings together over 70 organizations to offer a variety of services to those facing housing insecurity. Local Veterans organizations, government agencies, and community advocates come together to help those facing housing insecurity through a variety of services. Housing assistance, health screenings, mental health and substance abuse support, legal aid, employment services, and benefits counseling are offered to all attendees. This annual event was originally created with a focus on veterans, but has since grown to include non-veterans to try and tackle a wider homelessness crisis in the community. Hundreds of attendees come to engage directly with multiple agencies all in one place. This makes the resources more easily accessible for those who may otherwise struggle with barriers such as a lack of transportation and lack of relevant information regarding their personal living situations. The event offers direct aid and ongoing support through collaborative efforts of community members. The purpose is to raise awareness about veteran and civilian homelessness, and encourage those in the area to stay engaged with solutions throughout the year. The Five Seasons Stand Down continues to serve as a lifeline, offering dignity, hope, and a path forward to some of the communitys most vulnerable residents. We are proud to support this event and others like it!

The Great Rubber Duck Splash - Olivia C

Earlier this month, North Star Community Services hosted their 4th annual Great Rubber Duck Splash! Following the morning Duck Dash 5K and Kid's Fun Run, all participants gathered at The Falls Aquatic Center for the main event. At the pool, thousands of rubber ducks were dumped at The Falls Aquatic Center in Cedar Falls for a lazy river race! Each participant could adopt a rubber duck for just $5, or adopt multiples for higher chances of winning. The first 3 rubber ducks across the finish line awarded their adoptive "parents" a cash prize! There were also plenty of kid-friendly activities, such as balloon art, face painting, games and swimming to keep everyone engaged throughout the day. All proceeds of the Great Rubber Duck Splash, the morning Duck Dash 5K, and Kids Fun Run supported the North Star mission. Their programs include adult day services, supported community living, employment support, and social enrichment opportunities that promote independence, inclusion, and personal growth. Through programs like these, they support and empower people with disabilities to live meaningful, connected, and productive lives. We are proud to support this event and others like it!

Faj Squad 5K - Olivia C

The annual Faj Squad 5K is hosted by the Michael W. Oglesby Foundation in Dubuque, Iowa. It brings together runners, walkers, families, and cancer survivors to raise awareness and funds in the fight against pancreatic cancer. Hosted earlier in the month, the event offered a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere for people of all ages and fitness levels. The Faj Squad 5K is a celebration of resilience, hope, and community. Proceeds directly support patient services, awareness campaigns, and critical research through the Foundations partnership with the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, where scientists are working toward early detection and better treatments for pancreatic cancer. Participants of this event got to take part in a timed race and a community walk, heard from guest speakers, got some raffle prizes, and listened to lively music. They also supported a great cause while connecting with others who have been impacted by cancer, whether as survivors, caregivers, or advocates. We are proud to support events like this one!

We are proud to support local events like this one!

Hope Blooms - Olivia C

As a member of the KCRG Show You Care program, Dave Wright Subaru has the opportunity to show its support for events impacting the members of our community. One recent event was the Hope Blooms fundraiser. Individuals and businesses came together to show that even the smallest gestures can make a big impact. The Hope Blooms Fundraiser wasnt just about flowers it was about resilience, compassion and care. Community members purchased daffodils, stuffed animals, and notecards either to keep for themselves, or to send as a bouquet of hope. These gifts were anonymously delivered to cancer patients undergoing treatment at local hospitals, clinics, and hospices. Approximately 2,000 bunches of daffodils were distributed across the community, nearly 450 bouquets were delivered to patients receiving care, around 400 stuffed animals were given to children impacted by cancer, and funds were raised to support the Helen G.
